Miami Beach Dentist Dental Health Tip - Did You Know That Getting A Good Night Sleep May be Good for Your Teeth?

Miami beach dentistBetter health, maybe. Getting a good night's sleep won't grant you immunity from disease. But study after study has found a link between insufficient sleep and some serious health problems, such as heart disease, heart attacks, diabetes, and obesity. But, did you know that getting a good night sleep may be good for your teeth too?

The Connection between Sleep and Oral Health
The Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine conducted a study and examined 200 workers by assessing their lifestyle (e.g. stress, diet, exercise) and its effect on periodontitis. Throughout the duration of the study, the researchers used periodontal probes to monitor the changes in their oral health.
Results revealed that workers with seven to eight hours of sleep had lower risks for periodontitis compared to those who slept less. The amount of sleep you get every night has a connection with the onset of periodontitis, the formation of deep pockets between gums and teeth. This results in the shifting and loosening of your teeth, as well as the destruction of the bone, which holds your teeth in place.
The bottom line, get a good night sleep it may be good for your teeth...and definitely visit your dentist on a regular basis,
