I Know What Dental Implants Are, But What Is The Process?

What Is the Dental Implant Process Like?

The process should begin with a thorough evaluation of the patient's medical and dental
history, and a full clinical examination of the entire mouth and missing tooth area. The
clinical exam should also include specific X-rays.

After assessing the patient, a comprehensive treatment plan can be devised. From that point, implants are surgically placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia.

The length of the healing time is based on the quality and quantity of bone, as well as the type of implant placed. After adequate healing is allowed to occur, the implant can be used to support a crown, bridge, or denture.

If you have questions regarding dental implants, please call our office. You can make an appointment with our cosmetic dentist by calling our friendly staff at (305) 532-9114 or by visiting www.precioussmiles.com. Please don't hesitate to contact Precious Smiles if you have any questions about cosmetic dentistry.

Start The New Year With A Bright Smile - Benefits of Dental In-office Whitening from Miami Beach Dentist

Start the New Year with a bright smile. There are several safe options for dental tooth whitening. Depending on the bleaching treatment selected, some are performed in the dental office using an in-office bleaching system such as in-office one-hour bleaching. These methods lighten teeth instantly.

The same results may be obtained more economically through dentist-supervised at home
bleaching, but take longer to achieve. Some bleaching systems, which bleach
your teeth while you sleep, work in 10 to 14 days (or more accurately nights)! Others
bleach your teeth from two to four hours a day requiring three to six weeks to complete.

Also it's important to know that certain types of stain respond better to different types of
whitening materials. In such cases, your dentist may recommend one method over the
other.

Start the year off with a bright smile. You can make an appointment with our cosmetic dentist by calling our friendly staff at (305) 532-9114 or by visiting www.precioussmiles.com. Please don't hesitate to contact Precious Smiles if you have any questions about cosmetic dentistry.

Dental Tips to Maintain a Healthy Smile During the Holidays!

Our practice wants to wish you a Happy Holiday Season and remind you that during this fun and festive time of year, it is easy to get busy and forget about the simple things we do automatically any other time of year.

Make sure that brushing your teeth is not one of these forgotten things.  In fact it is better to brush and floss more often during this time of hearty meals and excessive sweets.  Below are a few dental care tips to help you maintain a healthy smile during the holiday season:

Be mindful of the things you bite on – candy canes and caramel popcorn balls are wonderful treats that we see during the holiday season but can raise havoc on your teeth.  One wrong bite and a tooth can crack, causing you discomfort and pain.  Avoid biting on anything that is hard, no matter how tempting or delicious it may be.

Don’t forget to include your teeth on your gift list – Make sure to change your tooth brush every 3 months.  Why not give your teeth the gift of a new toothbrush during the holidays.  Electric toothbrushes are a great option to help you on your way to a happy smile!
Don't leave home without it. Whenever traveling to a friend's or family member's home for a meal, don't forget to pack a spare toothbrush, toothpaste, and roll of floss. Make sure to pack enough dental supplies should the meal extend into an overnight stay or even longer.
Happy Holidays!

Oral Health Concerns for People Over 60 - Tips form Miami Dentist

Just 60 years ago, it was an assumption that as we age we would lose our natural teeth. But, that’s not the case for today’s older adults who are keeping their natural teeth longer than ever before. A healthy mouth and teeth help you look good, eat delicious and nutritious foods, and speak clearly and confidently. Being mouth healthy is essential for good quality of life.

Your mouth is the gateway to your body

Maintaining good oral health habits now is especially important because unhealthy bacteria in the mouth not only can harm your teeth and gums but may be associated with serious medical conditions. Research has shown that infections in the mouth may be associated with heart disease, stroke, diabetes, pneumonia and other health problems that are common in older adults. It really only takes a few simple steps, brushing and flossing daily, visiting your dentist regularly and eating nutritious foods to be Mouth Healthy for Life.
